Introduction Post - I want to talk about music today
(music note in a box with a heart in the righthand corner, thenounproject.com)
Hi, I'm Rosie, and unlike most people, I'm an out & proud Taylor Swift fan (sorry). Coincidentally, I am blonde with natural curls but I promise that was since birth and not since I listened to Love Story.
Like many Taylor Swift fans, I'm still on a high from Taylor's eighth studio album surprise drop, 'Folklore'. I say this about every album, but I really mean it with this one - I defy anyone who can listen to that album and not find one song they enjoy. My personal favourites? Mostly all of them, but if I were to be more specific, I'd say:
- the 1 (catchy, has explicit language, relatable)
- my tears ricochet (this is a song that you'd send to someone who stabbed you in the back when you're 13 and on MSN but like, more mature)
- mirrorball (relatable, I promise)
- the lakes (this could've been on the LC poetry programme maybe)
- invisible string (this is snazzy and the instruments make the song sound magical)
- peace (the John Mayer inspired riff at the start is enough for me)
- betty (more explicit language, we love to see it)
Sometimes I listen to other music too, for you normal folk. Below are some recommendations but remember that I like Taylor Swift - don't expect too much from me.
- Sad Girl Summer - Maisie Peters (this is witty and also everyone was sad this summer)
- If The World Was Ending - JP Saxe & Julia Michaels (the world was ending for a while there)
- Boyfriend - Selena Gomez (this was long awaited and we can only choose but to love)
- Overshare - Kelsea Ballerini (I relate)
- F2020 - Avenue Beat (yes, the tiktok song, there's a full version and it summarises how this year was a mess but it's okay because it was a mess for everyone)
That's my current playlist with a few others. I enjoy music because it's both an escape and a reminder that someone else has been in your shoes. It's always been something I loved and I gained a new perspective when I studied it for 5 years in school. I also learned I have a really low tolerance for Irish music, but I do mumble "black and decker" to see if it's a jig still so maybe it's not all lost.
Hey Rosie it's Sean!! "unlike most people, I'm an out & proud Taylor Swift fan (sorry)" you know I'm probably the only other person in the course who agrees with this statement (lol). I don't know If I could have possibly related with a blog post more in regards to the love of Taylor Swift but when it comes to Folklore how is Exile not in your top 3?? Love that you made the introduction post different and not just about yourself and maybe one day we'll get to listen to the album together! Good luck this semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie Its Ellen. I like your introduction post its very well laid out. Im not a Hugh Taylor Swift Fan but Love Story is a classic blare in the car song. As for the other songs you've listed iv never heard of a single one, I must live under a rock or we probably just have very different tastes in music lol. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie, It's Aoibhe. I too am a huge Taylor swift fan !! When folklore come out I listened to it on repeat for weeks. My favourite songs are still "The1" and "Cardigan". Love that you dedicated your first blog post to the queen. I love your blog layout & design. Good Luck with the semester. Don't Stress too much xx
ReplyDeleteHey Rosie, really enjoyed reading your blog! Hope this doesn't upset you but I only know Taylor's popular songs. The ones everyone knows like "22" and "I knew you were trouble". I'm sure you were super excited when when Taylor released "Folklore" out of nowhere it was all over my twitter feed lol. I haven't heard of any of those other songs but ill definitely check some of them out .
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie! Really enjoyed this blog post! I'm also a massive Taylor fan!! (Currently wearing her folklore mercy). I don't think I'll get off the high from her dropping Folklore?? So last minute, I danced around my room for ages with excitement when I saw she announced it!! Not going to lie I'm shook Exile didn't make that listing, honest to god the second I typed that it just came on!! Mad lol, apart from Exile not making it I do like your listing, Betty is such a bop! I hope she tours this album as soon as Corona goes, I got to see her twice on her Rep tour and she ran right passed me while touching my hand (Still not over it). Also loooove F2020 and If the world was ending!! Julia is a Queen!! Last thing I swear, sorry I get excited when I hear Taylors name.. But the black and decker is so relatable I actually laughed out loud. Irish music makes my head hurt rip.. Okay I'm going to shut up now lol sorry! Best of luck with the rest of the semester :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie good to meet you
ReplyDeleteI enjoy music too but I'm not a fan of any on group but I have to say my favorite is some old Irish music the kind you would hear in a pub it just so lively and energetic to me but I don't think Iv listened to these songes that you have listed I might give them a look.
Hi Rosie, just after finishing reading your introduction blog and I thought it was really interesting to learn some stuff about you. I can't say I am a fan of Taylor Swift but I do think some of her more popular songs are definitely good. I thought your layout for this blog was really nice and I look forward to visiting some of your other posts later. Best of luck with college this year!
