Week 22 - Reading

Image
This week we were adding our author bio and graphics to our writing. I looked through the author bios that had been added on to the class document and also hopped online to read through a few bios added to papers or sites I used when researching. I was quite happy with mine.  (screenshot of my bio) The typing portion was fine but I struggled to add images. Google kept freezing, even after I restarted my computer and browser. I'm going to assume there was too many people on the document when I was trying to add images so I'll have to do them later in the day when less people are online.  I pulled a screenshot I'd taken on my PS4 when I last played The Witcher 3. The game is an RPG, which is what my topic is.  (The Witcher 3 screenshot) I had uploaded my bibliography last time. It was really easy to copy it straight from the project I set up on MyBib. I also completed my 'check your understanding' over the Easter break. I settled on a Kahoot! because I miss taking par

Week 21 - Doing the Reading

Image
This week we had to review two of our peers' writings and give feedback. I too received feedback. From what I gathered, I need to rewrite a few pieces to sound less personal and I need to add more references as back up. Initially I hadn't, as I'd been told that references weren't being used but obviously now this is the real deal then they can be added. I'll have to sift through my notes and relink everything so I can give the correct references. This shouldn't be tough as I have several notes made and a detailed bibliography already made. Other than that, I enjoyed giving feedback and seeing others' work compared to my own and also receiving it so that I can better my own writing.

Week 21 - Tech Task

This week I wanted to put two modules together I wanted to see what I could do when editing the html because blogger offers the option to edit the html and I've been doing my website for a while and this course involves a lot of website design this list was made in the HTML The img tag wouldn't work and I don't know why! CDM The above line was made using the hr tag. "For a quote, I used the blockquote tag!" I used this post for reference!

Week 20 - Doing

Image
I found writing the conclusion and introduction difficult in some ways and relatively easy in other ways. As I had already written the bulk of my topic and themes, I knew what I was introducing and concluding. However, I felt like in some ways I was repeating what was in the introduction in the conclusion and vice versa. This didn't sit well with and I struggled to rearrange them so they didn't sound too similar while still being relevant to the theme, topics and each other.  I will be revisiting them though, as sometimes that helps with clarity. Initially, I had written out bullet points of what I wanted to mention but I felt it was hard to keep relevant and kept drifting off into things not as  relevant.  (screenshot of my Introduction and Conclusion)

Week 19 - Reflection

This week we had to give feedback on our annotated bibliography themes to our peers. I got some helpful feedback on my own from two people. Both agreed that I need to add more quotes in. I definitely agree too. I hadn't done that initially as I thought it was too long and that we weren't supposed to use quotes. However, I think they're fine to add in now to back up what I'm saying. Beyond that, I'm considering condensing one or two themes into one. I feel like some of them are very similar, particularly mental health and social skills. I'll be rereading them and I think I'll put them together anyway to see what it looks like and which I prefer.

Week 19 - Unity

Image
I was really interested in this first tutorial for Unity this week as I had done things with text and image overlays for my game last semester. I did it at a basic level and didn't really understand the whys, just understanding what I was doing. This tutorial was the next level or so on from what I'd done but also explained the basics so I enjoyed it and didn't feel out of my depth.  I really liked customising everything - I hadn't done that last semester. The little touches like adding the character portrait were fun. I hadn't made a health bar but the fundamentals were there so again, I didn't feel out of depth but definitely felt like I was learning something . Though the tutorial was a little bit tedious, it wasn't too bad. (screenshot of my script for the Health Bar at the end of the first tutorial) Then I started on the second tutorial. My favourite part was adding dialogue, I found that so interesting and nothing like we'd done this semester or la

Week 19 - Tech Task

I was running out of tech tasks this week, so I thought I'd give a quick tour of the bibliography Chrome Extension I've been using! It's called MyBib and you don't have to use the extension, you can just use the website, but I recommend the extension. You can choose your referencing still and can create a 'project' if you have several papers or reviews on the go. You can import previous bibliographies, you can download a reference list and you can share you project.  What I really like about it is when you add a citation, it actually tells you how credible it is. Though it should be taken with a pinch of salt, as this is the internet, I weeded out a few website articles through this tool.  You can sort your citations and search them if there are several. You have the option to copy an in-text citation or a bibliography entry. You can also go back and edit any citation if you misspelled something if you had to enter manually, for example.
