Week 10 - Tech Task; Misc.

This week I decided to do a few of the tech tasks at the bottom of the list marked as miscellaneous. 

Firstly, I confirmed what I already knew - I type fast and well. I did this typing test where you type a paragraph in a minute and it scores you. I did it twice because I'm competitive and have to beat my own score.

I then used Google's Define features to define a few relevant words.

Multimedia: Multimedia is a form of communication that combines different content forms such as text, audio, images, animations, or video into a single presentation, in contrast to traditional mass media, such as printed material or audio recordings.

Gaming: 1. the action or practice of playing gambling games.

                  2. the action or practice of playing video games.

College: an educational institution or establishment, in particular one providing higher education or specialized professional or vocational training.

Task: a piece of work to be done or undertaken.

Lastly, I explored the timer feature on Google to see if it's something I could incorporate in my day because I always forget to take screen breaks.

It was actually useful so I'm going to incorporate it into my day today to test it out further.

    Hi Rosie, it's me again. Just and a read through your tech task for this week and it all looks super interesting. I know you are a very fast typer where as I am absolutely awful at it haha, I think I might try that as my own tech task for this week. I'll let you know how I get on - Aoibhe

Week 4 - Game Idea Research

I have identified that my game will be an RPG, mature game, as it involves alcohol. I thought about it being a simulation but it doesn't put you in the person's shoes and it's third person but I guess it's arguable.  (a screen full of relevant gaming design words, successatschool.org ) My first idea is that the player is up against the time to select the correct ingredients from a last. If possible, there could be a spirit list, mixer list and garnish list. The time ticks down as the player selects these but continues to tick down as the player selects the process too (is it mixer first, ice, spirit? etc). If the timer is ticks down before the recipe is complete then it's game over. If the recipe is incorrect then it's game over.  My next idea is that the timer takes away points as it ticks down. You gain points for you correct ingredient selections but after 3 tries, it automatically gives you the right ingredients so you can create the drink together. My last

Week 18 - Reading

This week, I went through my annotated bibliography and put each useful sentence into their themes.  Firstly, I pulled out each highlighted sentences from last week's reading task and sorted them into their themes.  I read over them, noted which sentence would make a good introduction or conclusion to the paragraph.  Then I put them into a paragraph exactly as they were. They didn't make sense grammatically , but their ideas blended well together. Any sentences I didn't use, I left below so that I could still incorporate them or if I needed more for my paragraph, the information was still there.  Then I went back and rewrote the paragraphs to make sense.  What Makes An RPG?   what a roleplaying game is and  what the characteristics of an RPG are.  how customizable games can  be.
